Acupuncture FAQs for Lincoln, NE patients
The questions I hear most from new patients, in one place. If yours isn’t here, call. A real person answers, even after hours.
Getting started
Booking, your first visit and what to wear.
-
Call (402) 560-3051. We’ll answer your questions and find a time for your first visit.
-
We go through your full history: what you eat, when symptoms flare, sleep, stress and any labs you have. Then you get your first treatment, and we talk through your Care Plan: what we’re working on and when we’ll check progress.
-
Loose, comfortable clothing that rolls up easily. You will comfortably disrobe in the privacy of your treatment room.
-
It depends on how long you’ve had the pain and what’s causing it. At your first visit I’ll give you a Care Plan with my recommendations so you’ll know exactly what to expect.
-
Some women sleep better within the first few visits. Hormonal changes usually take longer, which is why your Care Plan includes checkpoints to measure progress over time.
About treatment
What acupuncture and dry needling feel like, and what they can help.
-
My focus is long-term solutions for chronic conditions: chronic pain and sciatica, digestive health, autoimmune conditions, menopause and women’s health, migraines and headaches, stress and anxiety, and sleep and energy. If you don’t see your condition, call and ask.
-
Most people feel very little. Acupuncture needles are about as thin as a hair. With dry needling you may feel a brief twitch or ache as a tight muscle releases, and many patients feel looser right away.
-
Often, yes. Many of my pain patients come to me after PT, chiropractic care or injections. Acupuncture and dry needling work differently, and they can also be combined with the care you’re already getting.
-
Many women find their hot flashes and night sweats become less frequent and less intense with regular treatment. We track how many you have each day so we both know whether the plan is working.
-
Yes. These are some of the most common reasons people come to see me. Acupuncture works on the nervous system that controls digestion, and I often pair it with a custom herbal formula. Most patients notice changes within the first few weeks.
-
Usually in your energy, sleep and how often flares hit. We track those at every checkpoint so you can see the change, not just feel it.
-
Autoimmune conditions are long-term, so the plan is too. You'll get a Care Plan at your first visit, and we adjust it as we go.
Working with your doctor
Acupuncture fits alongside the care you already get.
-
Yes. Acupuncture is used alongside medical care, not instead of it. Keep taking what your doctor prescribed, and bring your med list to your first visit.
-
Yes. Acupuncture can be used on its own or alongside the care you get from your doctor. I’ll ask about every medication and supplement you take before recommending any herbs.
-
Often, yes. Chinese herbal medicine is one of the strongest tools for digestion. I build formulas for your pattern, and I check them against any medications you take.Engagements range from two weeks for focused audits to several months for comprehensive transformation.
-
Not always. For hormonal symptoms I often recommend a custom herbal formula to support your treatments between visits. You’ll always know what’s in it and why.
